Problem:

Target not scoring properly.

Games affected:

All dart products.

Symptoms:

Intermittent scoring.

Cause A:

Bad connection from the matrix switch to the
target/microphone interface board or from the
microphone/target interface board to the CPU.

Solution A:

Check the connection of the ribbon cable running from the
target/microphone interface board and the CPU and secure
the matrix switch cable connector to the target/microphone
interface board using rubber bands.

Cause B:

The existing clamp on the matrix switch cable connector is
deforming the connector housing. (See Figure 2).

Solution B

Replace the existing clamp with a new clamp of different
design. To order a new clamp call Merit Customer Service,
at 1-800-445-9353.

Solution A

Check that the ribbon cable that runs from the target/microphone interface board to
the CPU board is well-seated in its sockets.

Secure the matrix cable to the target/microphone interface board:

1.  Open the target section to access the target/microphone interface board.

 

2.  Disconnect from the target/microphone interface board, the Piezo electric

sensor wires (the 2-pin connector) and the ribbon cable (that comes from the
CPU).

 

3.  Take the board off of the standoffs.

 

4.  Place a rubber band around the board and the metal connector (one on each

side), so that the connector is held firmly to the board. Be sure that the rubber
bands rest on the metal of the connector and not against the cable itself. See
Figure 1.

 

5.  Put the board back on the standoffs and reconnect the cables to the board.

Overtightening of the matrix cable clamp makes the plastic

connector housing deform, causing a loss of connection.
