The Use of a Keyboard in Upgrading MAXX™ Games

The manual for the Diamond Edition upgrade kit states that all games require the use of a
keyboard to perform the upgrade.  The only games that will require a keyboard are games that
have a Telco motherboard AND are running software that is not currently at the 3.01 level or later.
All other games do not require a keyboard to perform the upgrade.  To determine what motherboard
you game is using, refer to page 4 of the manual.

If you have a Telco motherboard and you are running software that is not currently at the 3.01 level
or later, follow the instructions 1 through 11 in the manual to connect the CD-ROM drive and
replace the security key.  Continue with the section 

Program Installation for Games Using

Telco Motherboards.

For all other games, follow the instructions 1 through 11 in the manual, to connect the CD-ROM
drive and replace the security key, and continue with these instructions:

1.

Turn on the game.

2.

Insert the CD labeled 

Disk 1

 into the CD-ROM drive.

3.

Turn off the game and turn it back on.

4.

If you have an  ELO touchscreen, you will be asked to perform a touchscreen calibration.
Follow all directions on the screen.

5.

The message 

Select A Language

 will appear on the screen.  After you select a

language, the message: 

“By continuing with this installation program, you indicate

that you accept the terms of Merit’s software license agreement.”

  The software license

agreement is found on page 8 of the manual.  If you accept the terms, select “

Continue

Install

”.  If you do not accept the terms, select “

Cancel Install

.”

NOTE

If you select “Cancel Install,” your game will abort the update and reboot in its

current version.

6.

When the first CD is finished installing, the message:

Please replace the current CD with CD #2 then touch screen to continue

 

will appear

on the screen.  Insert the CD labeled

 Disk 2 

and touch the screen.

7.

After the update is complete, you will see a screen that says:

“Upgrade Successful Please Remove CD and Reboot.”

8.

Turn off power to the game.

9.

Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable from the centronics connector on the game.

NOTE

When disconnecting the ribbon cable, carefully disconnect the cable by grasping

the connector and not the cable itself

.

10.

Close and lock the CPU section door of the game.

11. 

Turn on power to the game and enjoy the Diamond Edition program.
