Re: Network-Over-Power Adapters for Networking Games and Jukeboxes 

If you are in a location where you cannot run network cables, and wireless isn’t an option or performs sporadically, 

there is an alternative which has been used successfully in certain locations.  This “network-over-power” or 

“Ethernet-over-power” adapter uses the existing AC power outlets and electrical wiring to transmit data, making it 

both convenient and easy to install.  One adapter plugs into an electrical outlet and connects via Ethernet to your 

router, and another adapter plugs into another outlet and connects via Ethernet to your Megatouch game or 

jukebox.  (In order to function properly, each connected device must be plugged into an outlet supplying 110/120 

VAC, 60Hz on the same electrical phase.) 

Because network-over-power adapters depend on the existing power line infrastructure of a building to transmit 

data, they may not work properly in all environments.  Although interference, network traffic, building materials, and 

other conditions can negatively affect this networking option, we have seen dramatic improvement in connectivity in 

certain locations.  If you are experiencing issues with other networking options, a network-over-power adapter 

offers a viable alternative.  Where it works, it tends to work well and can solve many networking issues or 

obstacles.
