Re: Electrostatic Discharge
As with any computerized device, you should take every precaution to avoid exposing the internal components of
the Megatouch to electrostatic discharge. The rear of the monitor is especially vulnerable to static. These currents
can cause the touchscreen to become unresponsive, and can potentially cause permanent damage to the system.
To avoid static discharge, ground yourself by touching the metal U-bolt on the back of the game anytime you open
it, before touching anything inside. If you walk away from the game with it opened, make sure to ground yourself
again before touching anything.
When performing maintenance or a routine collection, the safest practice is to turn the game off first. Whether you
do this or not, make sure that the game is operating properly before leaving a location, as static can cause
component lock ups that can be easily overlooked. If there appears to be any issue, turn off the game for 10
seconds and then turn it back on. This will allow the system to completely shut down and discharge all electricity.
